While Instagram may have started off as a place to share your happy snaps, it has fast evolved into the app of choice for all things video. And as if sharing stories and saving them as highlights, posting Instagram live broadcasts, or posting videos on IGTV wasn’t enough, you can also share YouTube content directly to Instagram, too.
Why post your YouTube videos on Instagram?
As y’all know, content is king when it comes to promoting your services online. That said, who really has the time or energy to create unique content across every single platform — from Instagram and Facebook to YouTube and TikTok. The sheer thought of creating all of that content is exhausting! Repurposing content across platforms is a clever way to maximise your reach and grow your following while minimizing your output. Plus, as we all know, video is the best-perfoming content type on Instagram — even if that’s reduced slightly if you’re not creating it natively on Instagram.

All you need to do is take the URL of the YouTube clip you want to share and place the highlight bar over the 1-minute section of the clip that you want to share over on your Instagram. Then hit download. From here, you simply save that clip as a new file to your desktop, airdrop to your device and go ahead and repost it just as you would any other Instagram media.
